Visnumaya waxes lyrical

It is my Guru Maharajas (H.H Devamrita Swami) Vyasa Puja next Sunday. We will celebrate it intimately just amongst his disciples; my dear godsisters and brothers on Saturday. As an offering, as well as being my guru Maharajas desire, we are engaging in a 10day book marathon leading up to the day. The devotees are fired up, and are very happy to serve Guru in this way. I’m not one for the street at the moment, but to make up for it and to set the scene at base camp (The Gaura Yoga Centre), I sold a Srimad Bhagavatam set today! When one receives this fine literature, their life changes so much. To have in your house a literary incarnation of Krishna is a matchless gift. Incomparable to any mundane literature. The Vedas present methodologies for enhancing perception and verifying what lies beyond the ordinary grasp. What Srila Prabhupada has given us through his books inaugurates and masterminds a revolution directed inward, toward a scientific understanding of the highest knowledge of our spiritual nature. Mundane literature forces the mind to become hostage to a selective vision of reality. Through reading Bhagavad Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrita, the so-called para-normal starts to become the normal paradigm. Just see how reincarnation, vegetarianism and Karma have become familiar terms nowdays. East meets West through the distribution of Srila Prabhupadas books, and giving to others what we have so fortunately been given. Nowhere is there such joy at that which is tasted in the emotion of servitude, and no where is there better service than giving Krsna Consciousness to others.
