“sane memoirs from an insane world!”

The Good Food Club @ Vic.

If anyone wants to join the Good Food Club at Vic Uni, Wellington, New Zealand, here’s the scope:

Club Name: Good Food Club

Contact Person: Vishnu-maya

Brief History of Club: We started in 2007 when food on campus really hit an all time low (for consecutive preceding years actually!). Some of us had some D.I.Y skills in the kitchen so thought we would share that with others, and help increase the spread of the slow food revolution:)

Description of what Club is: The GoodFoodClub brings tasty, affordable, easy to prepare meals into your realm of expertise. The sessions last about 2.5hrs every Wednesday. We cook from scratch, then eat, and socialise. Everyones walks away thinking ‘cool, I can make that’. The GoodFoodClub also operates in conjunction with Gaura Yoga - A yoga lounge on Vivian st that offers yoga and dinner in the same deal. Members get discounts and the opportunity to volunteer in the centres kitchen in exchange for free yoga and dinner! They also have ‘Gaura Haven’, a beautiful community eco-project in Otaki Forks, which holds amongst others, regular yoga and cooking retreats.

The GoodFoodClub reveals the secrets of the sacred kitchen. Delve in at your own pace on a regular or casual basis.

What is Happening in 2008?: New recipes, eco-vegetarianism, organics, vegan food… We’re also really keen on having ‘GoodFoodClub’ retreats this year.

Why Should Students Get Involved?: Everyone loves to eat good substantial food right? It’s a fun practical club, and we have a nice facility to use at Ramsey House (8 Kelburn Parade). There is only gain.
