Visnumaya waxes lyrical

“sane memoirs from an insane world!”

The time of Awakening.

Krsna says in Bhagavad Gita: Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kunti, that state he will attain without fail [BG 8.6].

And similarly, this morning I discovered something:

Whatever thought one thinks of at the time of rest, that thought will remain with him at the moment of awakening.

I was having a conversation with a friend last night who presented me with a maths problem involving trigonometry. A bit of fun to test my skills (or lack of). Words that I hadn’t thought of in ten years or so entered my thoughts: Pythagoras, hypotenuse, perpendicular etc… I use to thrive on this stuff at school. I got the answer correct by fluke, so could not give reason for my conclusion… but was left pondering over a simple algebra equation (a squared + b squared = c squared).

When I awoke this morning, first thing I wanted to do was reach for my calculator. Now, this is the urge I want to get to grab my beads. To seize them in my hand for my morning solace. Yes, now it is the time of awakening - ‘Krsna, it’s just You and me’.

Tonight, I will chant Hare Krishna before taking rest. Lets see how that effects my consciouness in the wakening hours of the next morning. My Spiritual Master said ‘You should start chanting the night before’. I have finally caught up to this realisation. Live and let learn.

One Response to “The time of Awakening.”

  1. A bit of unsolicited blog comment advice here … it was passed on to me so i’m passing it on to you in the attempt to emulate ordinary human culture …..

“Whatever thought one thinks of at the time of rest, that thought will remain with him at the moment of awakening.”

In marraige you should always try to resolve your differences before taking rest or at least put a concentual pause on discussion if its a big issue. Letting the sun set on a heated disagreement leaves samskaras that can make communication difficult.

… trying to serve the devotees (not trying to be your guru) ….
