Govardhana Puja 2006…pics

Heres a few photos from this years Govardhan Puja celebration at Gaura Yoga (The Sweet Hill Festival). I will post a gallery of pics soon.

About 80 guests joined in on the festivities; alongside 30 or so devotees.

This was the program:

5:00pm - Kirtan. Ambient rhythms with the Gaura Yoga Bhajan band. As everyone arrives.
5:30pm - Talk given by Bh. Duncan. Multi media with Apples keynote. There’s nothing like cinema quality.
6:15pm - Drama - This expertly directed drama consists of 3 actors playing different roles between scenes. Very dramatic, entertaining and thought provoking.
6:45pm - Everyone rise and shine to the maha mantra. This is when we joyfully dance & prance around Govardhan Hill… all the whilst visually honouring the magnificents of Its surface ;-)
7:30pm - Now we get to actually honour the magnificence of Its surface.
7:30pm - Dinner prasad: Thai vege curry w/tofu, seasoned rice w/eggplant & cashews, fine spinach salad w/fried vermicelli & roast veg, sweet & sour dressing, polenta sticks w/olives, chunky tomato chutney… drink: fresh lemon and ginger w/jaggery.
8:30pm - Kirtan in the lounge. More wonderful chanting of the maha mantra. ALL WELCOME.

This is Lord Vamanadeva. His effulgence crowns the top of Govardhana Hill.

Duncan prabhu gave an insightful talk on ‘cults’. He wiped out the stereotypical pre-conceptions that alot of people have about the Hare Krishnas. He also comically pointed out that a good brain-wash is not such a bad thing after all; in fact he recommended chanting Hare Krishna to do just that.
